As a reminder, our only rule is: Have Fun! We’ll take care of the rest.

These live interviews run 20-30 minutes.

All shows are available at the LinkedIn event link. That means that you can share the live show for on-demand viewing.

Indie Agency News members receive the fully-produced video that can be used for any purpose. That’s right. You’re getting these files, and we hope they are useful for you.

These interviews will be published as-is. Until that glorious day when we can afford an editor, we’re going warts and all.

We cannot give you a specific publishing date but will share it on social (LinkedIn) once it’s published, and we’ll tag you.

Make sure you have the following:

• A laptop or desktop with a webcam and mic.
• A recent version of Chrome or Firefox.
• A strong internet connection. Just like Skype, you must have a strong internet connection for it to work well. If possible, connect to your router with an ethernet cable instead of using WiFi.
• We recommend wearing earbuds or headphones to prevent audio echoes.

If you don’t have a laptop or desktop, then you can join on your phone. But the experience is usually best on a laptop/desktop. On Android, we recommend the Chrome browser. On iOS, you must use Safari and we recommend updating your device before joining

When the time comes, follow these steps to enter the broadcast studio:

• You’ll get a link in your calendar invite before the show. Click the link and you’ll be taken to their broadcast studio.
• Allow StreamYard to access your camera and mic.
• Make sure you have the correct camera and mic selected.
• Enter a display name. Use your actual name or the name of your brand.
• Enter your title where it reads “Headline.” Then enter the studio.

The host will be informed that you’ve arrived. You won’t be part of the broadcast until the host decides to add you in. The page will update to let you know when you’ve been added. Then everyone will be able to see and hear you.

And then away we gooooo!

Streamyard is a production platform, and not your typical video conferencing software.

During the show, we’ll fly in and out of shots.

For example, as you talk, you may go from a shot of a few people in boxes to only a big box with you in it. Don’t get thrown by that—it’s what people in the broadcast game are used to.

The ends of shows can be awkward. We all say goodbye and then people generally bail.

Please wait backstage until the show is over so that the host can give you proper goodbye.

Meet an Indie Agency

What is Meet an Indie Agency?

Meet an Indie Agency is our OG show. This agency profile gives the industry a look into your work, philosophy and thinking.

These 15-20 minute interviews are yours to use however you want—biz dev, marketing, anything that raises your visibility.

Meet an Indie Agency is for Indie Agency News members only—and we ask that no more than three people from the agency participate.

Please be prepared to answer the following:

What is your agency best known for?
What are your top three core strengths?
Why is being an indie important to you and your team?
What is the main reason a brand should work with you?
Why should talent, whether full-time or freelance, put your agency on their list?
Do you consider yourselves weirdos, misfits or underdogs? Why is that?
Which CMO or marketer do you want to say hi to?

Indie Thinking

What is Indie Thinking?

Indie Thinking is all about thought leadership. No matter the topic, we’re here to dig into the issues that affect indie agencies and our members.

These 15-20 minute interviews are yours to use however you want—biz dev, marketing, anything that raises your visibility.

Indie Thinking is for Indie Agency News members only—and we ask that no more than three people participate.

There are no set, standardized questions. You will be provided these in advance.

As a general rule, prep calls aren’t necessary. We provide questions in advance, and that usually covers everything. However, we’re open to a short prep call (no longer than 15 minutes).

Indie Work

What is Indie Work?

Indie Work is all about the great work that indies do for clients.

And it doesn’t need to be new work. Had a campaign that smashed it 10 years ago? Let’s talk about it!

These 15-20 minute interviews are yours to use however you want—biz dev, marketing, anything that raises your visibility.

Indie Work is for Indie Agency News members only—and we ask that no more than three people participate.

Block 1 | The brief
How did you approach the brief at first and how did it change over time?

Block 2 | The process
Things change during the process of creating work.

What did you learn from the process this time around? What were some specifics that were good? What was challenging?

Block 3 | The results
We’re not necessarily looking for numbers here—especially for new work. We’re looking more for creative/strategic/leadership lessons.

Was the creative output what was expected? Was it better than expected? Worse? What would you and the team have done differently?

Block 4 | The lessons
What lessons did you learn during the creation of this work? What did you learn personally? Professionally?

Block 5 | Selling in work
How do you work with this client to sell in the work? What advice would you give to other indies about selling in work?

As a general rule, prep calls aren’t necessary. We provide questions in advance, and that usually covers everything. However, we’re open to a short prep call (no longer than 15 minutes).

Game Shows

What is Fun + Games?

Indie Work Fun + Games is what it says on the tin: a little fun.

Please find prep for the show you’re participating in below.

Fun + Games is for Indie Agency News members only.

Liar, Liar? is the game where we find the truth (or not).

If you’ve ever played Two Truths and a Lie, you’ll get it. It’s a riff of that, mixed with banter similar to this iconic BBC panel show.

Our version is one-on-one. It’s one contestant and one judge going head-to-head to find the truth.

How the game works:

⓵ The contestant makes a one or two-sentence statement that could be the truth or a lie
⓶ The judge asks three to six questions to ascertain whether the contestant is telling the truth or a lie
⓷ The judge then guesses whether it’s a lie or the truth

Contestants have three chances to stump the judge in a game of wits and quick thinking. Is it the truth? Is it a lie?

Keep the judge guessing!

Pun Fight is the Friday Fun + Games show for copywriters and creatives.

It’s three rounds dedicated to the beauty of words:

⓵ Punny Business: Come up with a punny name for a new business we’ll describe for you.
⓶ Word Fill: Create silly sentences using nothing but single words (think a certain party game that we can’t name due to IP issues).
⓷ Decaword: 10 letters. 30 seconds. Come up with the longest word to win.

Bring your best because the judge and co-host is none other than noted etymologist Jess Zafarris, the author of several books, including Words From Hell.

We have ten questions. Pick a number between one and ten. That kicks off the first of three rounds, where a special mystery guest judge scores your answers.

The questions could be about advertising. Or they could be about food. Or thermal dynamics. Or the movie that you don’t want to admit you love.

All that matters are your answers, and creativity certainly amps up the score.

How the game works:

⓵ The contestant has NO idea who the judge is—we start there
⓶ Contestants are asked to pick a number between one and ten
⓷ The questions are asked and contestants give their answers
④ The judge then scores the response on a scale of 1-10

We go three rounds—and there are bonus point opportunities throughout.
